History

This Medal was founded by Miklos Horthy, and it was awarded to Officers, Non-Commissioned Officers, and enlisted soldiers for exceptional bravery in war. It is also known as the Hungarian Medal of Courage.

The Gold Medal for Officers was not added as a grade until September 12, 1942.

It was awarded to Officers for rendering service during World War II.

When Gold Medal for Officers features a gold coloured crown with crossed swords and a laurel wreath on its ribbon.
