The Garda Síochána Liddy Medal was established by the Garda Síochána Retired Members' Association in 2005. It is named in honour of Chief Superintendent Seán Liddy, a founding member of the Garda Síochána and the founder of the Garda Síochána Retired Members' Association. It is awarded to retired members of the Garda Síochána who were injured in the line of duty.
