The Order of the Clans of Ireland is conferred upon Irish citizens, or individuals of Irish ancestry, in recognition of significant contributions to their Clan, Irish heritage, or Irish culture. Members are designated “Companions of the Order.”
The Order is organised and regulated by the Clans of Ireland, an independent organisation charged with maintaining a registry of Irish clans. The Patron of the Order is Michael D. Higgins, President of Ireland.
There is no limit on the number of members that can be admitted to the Order, however, the annual contingent is limited to four individuals.
