History


The Medal of National Gratitude was established by Grand Duke Jean by Grand Ducal Decree on June 24, 1968. It was awarded to military personnel and civilian resisters in recognition of services rendered to Luxembourgian citizens during the German occupation in the Second World War.

The Bronze Medal features a reverse inscription that translates to "National Gratitude, Grand Duchy of Luxembourg."
