History

The Medal of Recognition for International Missions for Grand Ducal Police was established by Grand Duke Henri by Grand Ducal Decree on November 27, 2004. It is awarded to members of the Grand Ducal Police for 90 days of irreproachable service in a government-recognized mission. It may be awarded to other Luxembourgian citizens and foreigners for participation in police missions, but only under exceptional circumstances.

The Silver Medal is worn with a ribbon clasp that denotes the mission in which the recipient participated, and additional clasps are awarded for each additional 90-day service term. A clasp may also be worn to denote the total number of completed terms. The reverse inscription translates to "Grand Ducal Police, For Peace."
