The Service Cross for Military Personnel was established by Grand Ducal Decree on February 22, 1850. It is awarded to military personnel for long and meritorious service.

All decorations must be returned upon promotion to a higher grade.

There are two versions of the I Class Cross (for Non-Commissioned Officers and Soldiers, for 30 Years) that vary in size and manufacturer.
