History

This Medal is awarded to all serving members of the Maltese Armed Forces, the Maltese Police Force, the Maltese Prison Service, and the Assistance and Rescue Force within the Civil Protection Department for 18 years of faithful service.

A clasp may be awarded for an additional 7 years of service, and then another may be awarded for an additional 5 years of service.

The medal is awarded on a different ribbon depending on the type of service rendered by the recipient.
