The Fire Brigade Long Service Medal was established by the Royal Dutch Association of Firefighters (KNBV) and the Dutch Association of Fire Commanders (NVBC). It is not permitted for wear on military uniforms, however, it is permitted for wear on uniforms that are regulated by the Ministry of the Interior, including those worn by police and firefighters.
It is awarded in recognition of long and faithful service.
There are two versions of the V Class Cross. The first version was actually the VI Class Cross awarded with a "20" clasp. The second version is a unique cross with a surmounting crown that features an obverse inscription that translates to "20 Years Fire Service."
