The Air Defence Medal (1940-1945) was established by the Dutch Association for Air Protection in 1949. It was awarded to all those who served in the Air Protection Service during the Second World War from 1940-1945 and is permitted for wear on military uniforms.
The Bronze Medal features a reverse inscription that translates to "Air Protection."
