History

The Red Cross Long Service Medal was established by the Dutch Red Cross in 1926. It is awarded to volunteers of the Dutch Red Cross in recognition of long and faithful service of at least 10 years.

Bronze clasps are awarded to signify each additional 10 years of service. Four different clasps may be awarded:
- "XX"
- "XXX"
- "XXXX"
- "XXXXX"

There are four versions the Bronze Medal. All versions feature an obverse inscription that translates to “Dutch Red Cross,” and a reverse inscription that translates to “For Long Service,” but they differ in spelling or engraving. The third and fourth versions feature the same inscriptions but differ in size.
