History

The Naarden Medal was awarded for service in the Naarden Siege of 1814. It was originally awarded as a non-wearable medal, but it was later rendered wearable with a red, black, and white striped ribbon. It was officially permitted for wear on military uniforms on October 6, 1816.

The Silver Medal features an obverse inscription that translates to "Naarden Siege 1814," and a reverse inscription that can be translated to "Homage of the High Commission at Amsterdam to [recipient's name]."

A total of 901 medals were awarded.
