History

The 1914-1915 Star was instituted by King George V by Army Order in 1918. The Bronze Star was awarded to Officers and men of British and Imperial forces who served in any theatre of war (in Western Europe, Eastern Europe, Egypt, Africa, Asia, or the Pacific) between August 5, 1914, and December 31, 1915, but who were ineligible to receive the 1914 Star. The 1914-1915 Star was also awarded with the British War Medal and the Victory Medal. It is estimated that approximately 2 366 000 Stars were issued.

A variety of different naming styles were used.

There may be additional versions that vary by manufacturer and composition.
