History

The Ceylon Police Long Service and Good Conduct Medal was re-instated by King George VI to replace the Colonial Police Long Service Medal. The Silver Medal was awarded to members of the Ceylon Police in recognition of 18 years of service. The Medal became obsolete in 1972 when Ceylon (now Sri Lanka) became a republic.

The Medal is similar to design to the Ceylon Police Long Service and Good Conduct Medal (1925) but features the reverse inscription "CEYLON POLICE SERVICE FOR LONG SERVICE AND GOOD CONDUCT," and omits the crown.

There are 2 versions of the Silver Medal which differ by the obverse effigy of the reigning sovereign.
