The Anne Coronation Medal was instituted in 1702 in commemoration of Queen Anne's Coronation on March 8, 1702. The Medal was awarded in Gold, Silver, and Bronze to crowds during the Coronation ceremony. Gold Medals were presented to members of the royal family, Silver Medals to members of parliament, judges, and esteemed peers of the royal household, and Bronze Medals were often thrown into the crown. It is estimated that 854 Gold and 1 200 Silver Medals were issued. It is believed that the Medal was designed by Isaac Newton.
The Medal features a reverse Latin inscription that translates to "As, Making Sounds, She Conducts Herself."
