History

The Delhi Durbar Medal 1911 was instituted in commemoration of the King Emperor's Delhi Durbar from December 7 to 16, 1911, where King George V was proclaimed as Emperor of India. The Medal was issued in Gold and Silver. Gold Medals were presented to Indian princely rulers and high-ranking government officials while Silver Medals were presented to civic dignitaries, other government officials, and Officers and other ranks of Indian and British armies in recognition of exemplary service. Approximately 200 Gold and 30000 Silver Medals were issued.

The Medal features a reverse Farsi inscription that translates to "The Durbar of George V, Emperor of India, Master of the British Lands."

The Medal was issued unnamed, but privately altered versions may be encountered.
