History

The Jubilee Police Medal 1887 was instituted by Queen Victoria in 1887. The Bronze Medal was presented to all ranks of the Metropolitan and City of London Police along with selected civilian staff in commemoration of Queen Victoria's 50th anniversary of the accession to the throne on June 21, 1887.

A clasp inscribed "1897" was awarded to recipients of the Jubilee (Police) Medal 1887 who were still serving with the Metropolitan or City of London Police force 10 years later during the Diamond Jubilee 1897.

The Medal features an obverse inscription of the Police Force the recipient served in.
