History

The Royal Naval Reserve Long Service and Good Conduct Medal was instituted in 1908. The Silver Medal was awarded to Petty Officers and ratings of the Royal Naval Reserve in recognition of 15 years of service. Service during wartime was doubled and clasps were awarded to denote additional 15 years of service. The Royal Naval Reserve Long Service and Good Conduct Medal was replaced by the Volunteer Reserves Service Medal in 2000.

The Medal features a reverse Latin inscription that translates to "Faithful for Ever."

There are multiple versions of the Medal which vary by the obverse effigy of the reigning monarch at the time of issue. A variety of ribbon types were issued with the Medal.
