History

The New Zealand Cadet District Medal was instituted in 1902 following the established of the Public School Cadets. The Silver Medal was awarded in challenge competitions or as prizes in annual competitions.

There are multiple versions of the Medal which vary by the obverse profile of the reigning monarch.

The Medal may have been awarded in 2 classes, but more research is needed.
