History


The Shanghai Municipal Council Emergency Medal was issued in 1937 and awarded to Fire Brigade, Volunteer Corps, Police Force, and civilian personnel. The Silver Medal rewarded service in protecting the Shanghai International Settlement between August and September 1937 during the Chinese and Japanese conflict.

This medal was accompanied by a certificate.

Privately altered versions of the Medal may be encountered.
