History

In most cases, aiguillettes were worn purely for decorative purposes. They were worn by Officers, Officials, and Generals, but only on special occasions that required a more formal uniform style.
The aiguillette was introduced on June 29, 1935, and worn on the right side of the chest and around the right shoulder.

Aiguillettes worn by Adjutants and Staff Officers, however, served a purpose that went further than just decoration, instead identifying their function.

The version for Directors of Music and Music Inspectors was the same as the one for Officers, only with an additional red silk thread.
