History

Every member of the HJ who successfully completed a six week course was qualified to wear the basic medical insignia.
The Feldscher-HJ (Medical Hitler Youth) ceased to exist as a separate unit with the beginning of the war. However, medical insignia were still given out to those members of the HJ specialising in medical training.

All Medical HJ insignia were worn on the lower left sleeve.

The 1st pattern of the HJ Doctor insignia is oval and shows a gold-coloured Aesculapius staff and snake on a dark blue field with a gold-coloured border. It was introduced in 1934.

The 2nd pattern is oval and shows a silver life rune on a light blue field. It was introduced on September 2, 1938.
