History

The sports shirt of the Hitler Youth was introduced in a regulation from October 7, 1933. These shirts were initially worn by both male and female members of the HJ while they were participating in exercising and sports events.

There were two main versions of these shirts. Both versions are composed of white cotton, but in the 1st pattern a cloth HJ diamond insignia was placed in the center of the chest, and in the 2nd pattern a swastika pattern – mirroring the one the HJ members wore on their brassards – was placed on a red/white/red band around the middle of the shirt. Additionally, the 2nd pattern sports shirts were only worn by male members of the HJ.
