History

An SS Battalion (Sturm) was given a flag in the shape of a rectangle, showing a black swastika inside a white circle on a red base. Early flags feature a static swastika, while later ones feature a mobile swastika. In the upper corner of the flagpole side there is a black rectangle with a white border, inside which is the Battalion’s designation, the Battalion number in Roman numerals, followed by a slash and the regiment’s number in Arabic numerals.

The flag features black frings on all sides but the flagpole side where there are seven metal rings used to attach the flag to the pole.

It is estimated that around 700 Battalion Flags were used.
