Physical Description and Item Details


The membership in silvered bronze and enamels, 13.5mm, with maker’s mark/manufactured by Hoffstätter, Bonn. The reverse of the pin bears the membership allocation number “190594”, slightly worn, in extremely fine condition.

History


The SS Civil Pin was issued to members of the SS. from 1933 to 1938, and was worn on civilian clothing to denote membership in the organisation. The Badge was primarily issued to members of the Security Police (Sicherheitspolizei) who were veteran members of the SS.

In order to receive the Pin, an individual had to apply to the SS-Hauptamt (SS Main Office). It is unknown whether there was set criteria to receive the award.

Some pins feature award numbers on the reverse. Adolf Hitler was awarded number one, and Heinrich Himmler received number two.
