Physical Description and Item Details

A rare and very desirable Kriegsmarine “Abschusswimpel”, constructed of extremely fine preserved bright red cotton, with hemmed edges. The pennant features a crisp black printed iron cross within a white circle that is equally visible from both sides, with an official (undecipherable) Kriegsmarine stamp in pink ink. It also features a white strip of cotton on the outward facing side, acting as supports for the attachment points. This pennant was awarded to a Kriegsmarine ship, flown, and and eventually cut down. This piece measures approximately 510 mm x 290 mm, and is in overall extremely fine condition, with only some tape residue from where the pennant was attached to an album, that is only visible from one side. Awarded prior to the establishment of the Flak badge.
