History

The Commemorative Medal for the Campaign of 1866 was founded by Grand Duke Nikolaus Friedrich Peter to commemorate the campaign of 1866, in which he led the Oldenburg army and helped secure a Prussian victory in the Austro-Prussian War.

This medal was conferred upon all officers and soldiers who participated in the campaign.

Officially produced medals feature the name of the designer, "R.Kölbel".
