History


The Medal was founded by Grand Duke Nikolaus Friedrich Peter to commemorate the campaign of 1866, in which he led the Oldenburg army and helped secure a Prussian victory in the Austro-Prussian War.

This medal was conferred upon all Officers, Soldiers, and troops who participated in the campaign.

Officially produced medals feature the name of the designer "R.Kölbel."
