History


The Order was founded by German Emperor and King of Prussia Wilhelm (William) II as the Kingdom’s highest civilian order. The Order was dedicated to Wilhelm’s grandfather, Emperor Wilhelm (William) I “The Great.”

The Collar inscription translates to: “Work in the memory of Emperor William the Great.”
