History

The Zahir Shah Bravery Medal was instituted by King Mohammed Zahir Shah in 1931 or 1942. The award may also be known as the Military Bravery Medal, and it was made obsolete following the overthrow of the Afghan Monarch.

The Medal may have been awarded in 3 Classes, but additional research is necessary to confirm.

There are multiple versions of the Medal which vary by composition.
