History

The Medal for Meritorious Acts was instituted by Sultan Hussein Kamil in 1917. The Medal is awarded in 3 grades to men and women of any nationality in recognition of meritorious service to the King, State, or Society. Acts of courage, life-saving, as well as long service, may also be eligible for the award.

The Gold Medal is awarded as the I Class award.

The date and service recognized by the award is engraved on the suspension bar.

Subsequent awards are denoted by the addition of a clasp worn on the ribbon.
