History

The Medal of Military Bravery and Exemplary Service in Battle is believed to have been established around 1946. The Medal was issued in 3 Grades to award military prowess and demonstrations of courage in the battle which are distinguishable, but less than that which is required to merit the recognition of the award of the Zoalfagher or Sepah Order.

Only Non-Commissioned Officers were eligible to receive the Silver (Noghreh) Grade.

There are 2 versions of the Silver (Noghreh ) Medal which vary by the obverse portrait of Emperor Reza Shah. There are known to be both profile and full-frontal designs of Reza Shah's portrait.
