History

The White Revolution Decoration (Sepahi Enghelab Sefid) was created in 1964 to reward corpsmen and women who participated in Iran's White Revolution between 1963 and 1979. The White Revolution, or the Shah and People's Revolution, involved a series of reforms initiated by Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi which were aimed at Iran's peasantry and were intended to advance Iran's steps towards modernization. The White Revolution included land reforms, the sale of state-owned factories, the expansion of transportation networks, the eradication of disease, the enfranchisement of women, and the promotion of literacy amongst other reforms and significantly contributed towards the economic and technological advancement of Iran. Conversely, the White Revolution also contributed to the Islamic Revolution and the downfall of the Shah in 1979.

There are 3 versions of the Decoration which vary by design and inscription to denote the service recognized. Separate versions of the Decoration exist to reward members of the educational corps (Sepahi Danesh), health corps (Sepahi Behdasht), and the agricultural corps (Sepahi Tarvij o Abadani).

There may be additional versions which differ by inscription and design.
