The Order of Aftab, or the Order of the Sun for Ladies, was founded by Nasser al-Din Shah Qajar in February of 1873. The Order was only conferred upon female sovereigns, queen consorts of reigning rulers, or other high ranking royal ladies.
The Order may have been awarded in 2 Classes, with the I Class being presented to royal queens and queen consorts and the II Class presented to princesses and other royal ladies, but more information is needed to confirm.
There are known to be multiple versions of the Order which vary according to composition.
