Iraq, Kingdom. A King Faisal II Coronation Medal 1953

In silvered bronze, engraver marked "HUGUENIN" on the obverse, measuring 32.5 mm in diameter, original ribbon, scattered silvering wear, light contact, very fine.

History


The King Faisal II Coronation Medal was established by King Faisal II in 1953 in commemoration of his Coronation as King of Iraq on May 2, 1953. The Medal may also be known as the "Enthronement Medal" (Nut al-Tohija). It is believed that the Medal was issued in 3 Classes

The II Class is composed of silver.

The Medal features an Arabic inscription on the reverse which translates to "Coronation Year 1372H-1953M."
