Physical Description and Item Details


Bronze gilt and enamels, 36.2 mm x 41 mm, original ribbon, gilt wear and oxidation spots, very fine. Footnote: The medal was awarded to commemorate the November 18, 1962 takeover of all powers by General Abed al-Salam Muhammad Arif, Abed al-Rahman Muhammad Arif and Colonel Said Slaibi, creating a new Revolutionary Command Council in Baghdad.

History


The Medal for 18 November 1963 was established in 1963 and awarded in commemoration of the 18 November 1963 takeover of the powers of government by General Abd al-Salam Muhammad Arif and Colonel Said Slaibi which resulted in the creation of a new Revolution Command Council and saw the expulsion of the Ba'ath Party from power.

The Medal features an Arabic inscription on the obverse which translates to "18 November 63."
