History

The Isreali Defence Force (IDF) Marching Medal was first instituted in 1955. The Medal is awarded to IDF personnel in recognition of service during 4 Day Marches, or the Jerusalem March. It is uncertain if the Medal has been awarded since 1978. More research is necessary.

The obverse features an inscription in Hebrew.

There are multiple versions of the Medal which vary by the date (year) of the award as well as by design. The first version of the Medal, issued between 1955 and 1968, features an obverse design of the IDF emblem. In 1968, the obverse design was altered to depict Jerusalem as well as the IDF emblem. Further amendments were made to the Medal in 1972 when the design of the award changed from a circular Medal to a star Decoration.
