History

The Order of Military Duty (Wisam al-Iftiqhar al-Askani), or the Order of Military Distinction, was instituted by Shaikh 'Abdullah III in 1962. The Order is awarded in 4 Classes to members of the Kuwait Defence Force or the Kuwait Police forces in recognition of conspicuous bravery demonstrated in the field or for acts of distinguished service. Other personnel who participated with distinction in military operations are also eligible for the award.

A gold laurel leaf emblem is authorized for wear on the ribbon of the I Class Decoration.

The Decoration features Arabic script on the obverse which translates to "Order of Military Duty" as well as on the reverse which translates to "This Order was Established by Law No.17 of 1962."
