The Order of the Danaker was instituted by Presidential Decree on November 24, 1999. The Order is conferred as Kyrgyzstan's second highest honour as a diplomatic award to foreigners and as a senior merit award to Kyrgyzstan civilian personnel for significant contributions to the state. The Order may be bestowed in recognition of peace, friendship, cooperation between states, and for service towards the perseverance of inter-ethnic harmony or the enrichment of national cultures. Distinguished scientists, cultural leaders, high ranking officials, foreign heads of government or state, and international organizations may be eligible for the award.
The Star features 40 pointed rays to represent the 40 tribes who were united by national hero Manas to form the Kyrgyz Nation.
The obverse features Cyrillic script which translates to "Danaker."
