Physical Description and Item Details


A circular bronze medal, the obverse bears two interlinked arms superimposed over an upwards facing dagger, behind the dagger is a sun with beams, laurel branches are on both sides of the arms, below the arms there is a banner with the Arabic inscription UNITY HONOUR HOME, the reverse bears the Arabic inscription DAWN OF THE SOUTH JULY 1991, ring suspension on a red, green and white striped ribbon, measuring 40mm in diameter.

History


The medal of the Dawn of the South was instituted by Decree 3644 on June 16, 1993. The Medal of the Dawn of the South is awarded to Lebanese military personnel in commemoration of the redeployment of the Lebanese Armed Forces in South Lebanon on July 1, 1991.
