The Order of Oman (Wisam Al-Oman) was instituted following Sultan Qaboo's accession to the throne on July 23, 1970. The Order was originally conferred in 5 Classes to both civil and military personnel, however, the Order was amended in 1982 and the Honourable Order of Oman (Wisam Al-Sharif Al-Oman) was added as a Special Class.
The I Class Grand Cordon Breast Star is conferred as the second highest Class of the Order, following the Special Class. The Grand Cordon Breast Star is worn with a ribbon Badge.
There are 2 versions of the Grand Cordon Breast Star which vary by design according to service recognized. Breast Stars awarded to civilians featuring white enamel and Breast Stars awarded to military personnel featuring red enamel.
