History

The New Zealand Army Long Service and Good Conduct Medal was established by Queen Elizabeth II, Queen of New Zealand by Royal Warrant on May 6, 1985. It was established to replace the British Army Long Service and Good Conduct Medal. It is rewarded to any non-commissioned military personnel who have served 15 years since 1977.

Clasps are awarded for each additional 15 years served. For each clasp, a silver rosette is added to the ribbon when worn alone.

The Silver Medal is attached to a distinctive suspension bar inscribed with NEW ZEALAND, and the recipient’s name is engraved on the rim.
