History

The New Zealand Police Long Service and Good Conduct Medal was established by Queen Elizabeth II, Queen of New Zealand by Royal Warrant on September 8, 1976. It was created to recognise members of the New Zealand Police Force whose conduct warrants an award and who have rendered 14 years of continuous service.

Clasps are awarded for each additional 7 years of service. For each clasp, a silver star is added to the ribbon when worn alone.

The Silver Medal features the recipient’s name engraved on the rim.
