History

The Royal New Zealand Naval Volunteer Reserve Long Service and Good Conduct Medal was established by Queen Elizabeth II, Queen of New Zealand by Royal Warrant in 1985, with eligibility dating back to 1977. It is awarded to Royal New Zealand naval volunteer reserve personnel in recognition of 15 years of service.

Clasps are awarded for each additional 10 years of service. For each clasp, a silver rosette may be added to the ribbon when worn alone.

The Silver Medal features the recipient’s name engraved on the rim, and the inscription "DIUTURNE FIDELIS" which translates to "Faithful of Long Duration" on the reverse.
