History

This medal was instituted in commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the end of the Russian campaign against Napoleon. It was conferred upon those who participated in the ceremonies in Moscow, the fields of Borodino. It was also awarded to civilians who helped with the preparations, and a number of officials who were present at the festivities.

The reverse inscription translates to: "1812 This Glorious Year Went By, But the Heroic Deeds Then Performed Will Never Pass 1912".
