This medal was established in commemoration of the Turkish war (also referred to as the Turco-Egyptian War or the First Syrian War). It was conferred as a memento to Turkish soldiers and officers situated near the Russian military camp near Scutari/Uskudar.

The obverse features the cipher of Nicholas I. The reverse is dated.
