History

This medal was established and instituted during the reign of Alexander I.

The gold medal was conferred upon militia officers in recognition of service in at least one battle or campaign. The medal was either suspended from a Saint George ribbon (for actively participating in a battle) or a Saint Vladimir ribbon (for actively participating in a campaign but not a battle).

The obverse inscription translates to: "Alexander I Emperor of All Russias 1807". The reverse inscription translates to: "For Faith and Fatherland to the Territorial Army".
