This medal was established during the reign of Alexander I in commemoration of the ending of the campaign against the Napoleonic forces.
The bronze medal was awarded to noblemen and merchants in recognition of participation in the War of 1812.
The reverse inscription translates to, "Not Unto Us, not Unto Us, But in Thy Name", a verse taken from Psalm 115.
