History

This medal was instituted during the reign of Nicholas I. It was conferred by King Frederick Wilhelm IV of Prussia to mark the 25th anniversary of being the honourary Colonel of the Fifth Russian Kaluga Infantry Regiment.

Gold medals were awarded to officers. Gilded bronze medals were awarded to non-commissioned officers.

The obverse features the cipher of King Wilhelm IV and an inscription, translated as “In Remembrance”. The reverse inscription translates to: “1818-June 20-1843” and “Czar’s Village”.
