People's Republic of Kampuchea, 1979-1989
After years of civil war, the Khmer Rouge founded a terror regime in 1975. The Communist Party of Cambodia, in short the Khmer Rouge, was founded in 1951.Many people died. The aim of the party (Khmer Rouge) was to establish a classless state with a rural agrarian economy. 1979 the Khmer Rouge were overthrown by the Vietnamese. Cambodia was occupied by Vietnam for ten years.
The Angkor Decoration was the highest title and was conferred upon individuals in recognition of exceptional contributions and achievements in the building and security of the People's Republic of Kampuchea.
