There were several bars awarded with this medal, which were inscribed in Hindi; however, they below they are referred to by their English names: Korea (1950-54), Nepal (1952-), Hindchin/Indo-China (1954-), Indonesia (1955-), Sanyukt Arab Ganrajy/United Arab Republic (1956-?), Ethiopia (1957-, 1961-), Lebanon (1958), Iraq (1959-), Ghana (1959-), Congo (1960-64), Bhutan (1961-), Nigeria, Algeria (1963-), Yemen (1963-64), Bangladesh, Mauritius, Maldives (1988), Afghanistan, Zambia, Sri Lanka for "Operation Pawan", Sudan, Angola (1989-), Namibia (1989-90), Iraq-Kuwait (1991), El Salvador (1991-95), Cambodia (1991-93), Somalia (1992-95), Mozambique (1992-94), Liberia (1993-), Haiti (1993-96), Rwanda (1993-96), Bosnia & Herzegovina (1995-), and Yugoslavia.

The obverse Hindi inscription reads as "Videsh Seva Medal".
